Description

For the digital aspect of the annotated bibliography, we used Adobe InDesign and Photoshop to visualise the project, using creative initiatives to bring it to life. For this, I spent time on Pinterest carefully selecting photos which encapsulated the feeling of “Luxury with a Conscience”, further using Photoshop to edit the photos to fit the theme of my InDesign document.

Feelings

I had feelings of apprehension before the process, as I am aware that my CAD skills are limited in some areas, and I believe that my academic skills are stronger than my creative. During the creation of my document, the feelings of apprehension were still apparent, as I was struggling with editing my photos on Photoshop and also on how to lay it out so the document looked coherent yet creative. Afterward the process, whilst I was proud of what I had created, I was not completely happy with the final result, as I felt I could have pushed my creative ideas further.

Evaluation

What I felt was good about the situation was that when researching different Adobe skills, I furthered my knowledge around the platform which can then be used for future documents. I also used different font sites to make my typography visually interesting.

What I found was negative about the situation was the visual identity was not communicated adequately. Whilst my main titles were pleasing, the main text was harder to read and thus it would have been useful to use a more cohesive font. I also felt that my structure was lacking in creativity, as the final document represented a magazine style (X) rather than a creative report.

Analysis

What I can make of the situation is while my final document was coherent and legible, it was limited in creativity and furthermore meant that the theme of my work was not visually communicated adequately.

Conclusion

To conclude, I am aware that my InDesign skills limited the comprehension of my report, and is an important factor in keeping the reader engaged. Moreover I need to ensure that my InDesign skills are to be developed to ensure success for my Stage 1 report.

Action Plan

To prepare for my Stage 1 essay, I will sign up to extra CAD lectures, as this will allow me to go over my skills and further enhance my knowledge. This may also help to spark my creativity and give direction for how I am going to visually present my work. Moreover, I am also going to spend 30 minutes a day on InDesign and Photoshop to practice these skills and for further development.

Thank you for reading through my Future Thinking process! I know what I need to do in the future and how to improve. Watch this space for Stage 1.
